can anyone tell me how to get that filtered, distorted 'other-end-of-a-phone- coversation' sound on dialogue i've recorded? I run Final cut pro. What filters could i use? If anyone has any suggestions regarding this I would love to hear from you!!!

Haven't I answered this before?
Essentially you need to emulate a phone's narrow frequecy bandwidth, how you'd do this Final Cut Pro I don't know ... Cool Edit shareware can do it though, I think there may even be a preset (it's PC only I think though).
Anyway, assuming you are working your project in 44KHz audio/16 bit resolution, you need to:
1. resample the audio at, say, 8KHz, 8-bit and save it. This should make it sound a lot like a telephone. You can also try EQ'ing so there's no bass.
2. Do a filterless (ie no smoothing etc) upgrade of that wave to 44KHz, 16-bit so it is compatible with your project.
It should sound like someone on a phone because you have emulated the frequency and resolution of a phone. (I could be wrong with the actual KHz a phone operates at, anyone care to correct me?)
